THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM IN SPEAKING ENGLISH COMPETENCY ENHANCEMENT FOR STUDENTS OF POLITEKNIK MELAKA

ABSTRACK
The explosive growth of technology has always made our life easier. It accomplishes countless life task nowadays. Social Media platform, a hugely desired application has earned an attention worldwide. The Covid outbreak that shut all face-to-face classroom has worsened the speaking skill among students. Due to this fact, the issue on the speaking weakness English among has gained a great attention from all parties. Student who undergoing some obstacles to acquire the speaking skill, they would be easily feel bored to practice it as the learning environment is less conducive to them. Even though some people claim that these platforms might affect its users negatively, it does offer a bunch of blessings especially to the youth. In 2020, due to the pandemic, educators in Malaysia started to adopt this networking medium in their offline classroom due to its prominent credit as the example of the blended learning enrich virtual approach. It greatly functions as the most interactive and approachable platform to implement speaking project-based learning because pupils will have fun creating their videos and other tasks. This paper aims to review the effectiveness of social media to enhance skill and inclusive strategies to expand its usage to the greatest extend. Questionnaires were randomly distributed for 107 students of PMK. The findings analyzed using SPSS revealed that the use of Social Media is positively viewed Medium High Impact as engaging learning medium. This inspire teachers to embrace it in enhancing speaking English competency.
